When you export those settings into an fff file, that becomes a static profile (unless you save over it again). When you create a profile, it includes everything - all print settings, feed-rates, temperatures and yes, price per kg. First thing to understand is that you don't make a profile for a material. I also found the profile selection and setting thing a bit confusing at first.

The user interface is filled with stuff I can't even use on my machine. The rafts aren't as good as MakerWare rafts out of the box. I don't understand why a dual extrusion setup has to happen over a half dozen tabs.

I can't figure out how to drag multiple parts on the bed at the same time. If I change material price it applies to all materials. I can't figure out how to save calibration settings for specific materials. I can't figure out what settings are persistent between profiles or processes or materials. I get that if you're doing a complex build like a complete e-NABLE assembly on one bed, Simplif圓d is a powerful tool. With Simplif圓d I am spending huge amounts of time and brain load setting up simple oneoffs that in MakerWare take about 20 seconds. To me, the value of a 3d printer, is you do your calibration, and then you crank out one offs without having to spend a lot of human hours on setting up each part.
I just dumped $150 on Simplif圓d and the name couldn't be any more misleading. I know what it is to crank out toolpaths for an entire weekend. Before I begin, let me first say that I come from a CNC background and we did a lot of manufacturing in my mechanical engineering program.
